The research study I selected in DQ 1 was “Spiritual and Religious Issues of Stigmatization Women with Infertility: A Qualitative Study: Spiritual and Religious Issues of Stigmatization” by Akarsu & Beji in 2021. Three key questions that I will ask about the research selected are as follows:

Question 1: What is the significance of this study?HLT 362 Topic 2 DQ 2

The significance of this study was to determine the perceptions of women with infertility on stigma and religious and spiritual issues of stigmatization (Akarsu & Beji, 2021). The desire to have children is the focal point of women’s physical well-being. As a result, issues linked to raising children are viewed as flaws in women.

Women’s social obligation to have children affects how their infertility is considered (Forsythe, as cited in Akarsu & Beji, 2021). Deficiency in reproductive functions causes social stigmatization due to cultural norms, beliefs, and values. HLT 362 Topic 2 DQ 2 Infertility is an important issue for both sexes because it is an instinctive biologic behavior to have offspring, but also an important issue to be a family as a part of a community. It is also an important issue for medical caregivers working in infertility to deal with and determine the psychological aspects of infertility.

Question 2: How was the data collected?HLT 362 Topic 2 DQ 2

Response:

The data was collected by conducting a 30- 60-minute interview, which consisted of open-ended questions. Subjects were interviewed in a quiet and calm room near the polyclinics. The researcher transcribed interviews during the interview since none of the issues gave consent for voice recording (Akarsu & Beji, 2021).

Data were coded, and related themes were formed using the content analysis method. These themes included reasons for experiencing infertility, current emotional states, families’ reactions to infertility, people’s general opinions about women with infertility, and the effects of meeting with people who were aware of their stigma.HLT 362 Topic 2 DQ 2

Question 3: What was the method of sampling?

Response:

This qualitative study was conducted with the voluntary participation of women diagnosed with infertility and monitored in the obstetrics and gynecology polyclinics at the Bozok University Practice and Research Hospital (Akarsu & Beji, 2021). The phenomenological method was used for the study consisting of a research sample of 12 women with infertility selected through the criterion sampling method (Yıldırım [26] as cited in Akarsu & Beji, 2021).

The phenomenological approach aims to describe, understand and interpret the meanings of experiences of human life. It focuses on research questions such as what it is like to experience a particular situation (Bloor & Wood, 2006).HLT 362 Topic 2 DQ 2 Criterion sampling involves selecting subjects that meet some predetermined criterion of the study.

Your significance, data collection, and sampling method questions were remarkable.

Great post, it is informative. The idea of women place being in the kitchen and bearing of children is one of the greatest injustice that has ever taken place on the surface of the earth. Relegating women to the background and making them feel inferior to men is the effort made by men to continue their role as the alpha and domanating of the two genders. HLT 362 Topic 2 DQ 2

However, in our contemporary world, things has started to change for better with women having more opportunity to take control of their health and ability to decide their reproductive lives. Infertility should not be seen as a stigma to women, there are series of health reason that could cause infertility, hence religion should not dictate unreliabble facts on this issue.

You really did a good using this qualitative research method because, qualitative designs do not generally draw samples from large-scale data sets. The problem of adequate validity or reliability is a major criticism. Because of the subjective nature of qualitative data and its origin in single contexts, it is difficult to apply conventional standards of reliability and validity. For example, because of the central role played by the researcher in the generation of data, it is not possible to replicate qualitative studies.

Also, contexts, situations, events, conditions, and interactions cannot be replicated to any extent nor can generalizations be made to a wider context than the one studied with any confidence The time required for data collection, analysis and interpretation are lengthy. Analysis of qualitative data is difficult and expert knowledge of an area is necessary to try to interpret qualitative data, and great care must be taken when doing so. Good Job my friend.

It is important to question the quality of evidence as it enhances the study and the way it can be applied. In order to increase the validity and reliability of research standardization is a procedure employed by researchers. The rationale behind the procedure is that objective scientific findings must be non-contradictory and replicable (Weinberg, 2007). Standardization is thought to fortify scientists against the biases that may otherwise be introduced into research by things like their own personal characteristics and/or the characteristics of the particular social contexts within which research is conducted (Weinberg, 2007).

The standardization of research methods secures uniformity in the scientific enterprise to conduct meaningful and productive dialogue and debate(Weinberg, 2007). Standardized methods facilitate confidence among researchers conforming to them that they and others who also conform are gathering new knowledge about the same empirical phenomena(Weinberg, 2007). HLT 362 Topic 2 DQ 2

Standardizing scientific research methods not only to make them uniform among scientists studying the same things, but also to ensure that a certain level of excellence is maintained (Weinberg, 2007).

This week’s discussion was excellent, and I appreciate everyone’s active participation. You learned more about sampling techniques this week. You are now able to:

Explain the importance of random sampling

Give examples of descriptive and inferential statistics.

Describe strategies for selecting a sample from a population.

Identify key questions you will ask or answer when reading a research study.

Watch “Pitfalls of Thinking: Anecdotal Evidence” on the YouTube website located at www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJWxajLJPtU&feature=youtubegdata to help understand what anecdotal evidence is and relate it to what you have learned.

Thank you for sharing this video. It really helped me to understand a bit more of the subject.

The video explains the sample size and its limitations. The size of the sample may too small and difficult to determine whether a particular outcome is a true finding. The results are not realistic and are more likely inaccurate. The sample size is important because influences the research findings. As the video is only when the sample size becomes significant that we can determine outcomes. In other words, the larger the number the more accurate the findings will be.

Research Questions

The research questions are the first active step in the research project. In general, there are three types of research questions: Descriptive, Observational-Relational, and Causal questions. The descriptive question describes conditions that are happening or characteristics that exist.

An observational-relational question examines the question of whether two or more variables affect, or do not affect, each other under a given set of circumstances. The causal question attempts to determine if changing one variable in a known and/or contained habitat has a measurable effect on another variable or set of variables within that same area or habitat.

Three key questions I will ask and why these questions are important

What other studies have been done on the same matter?

This is important to know because there is a probability that a single study will not provide a definitive answer or the expected data. And if there is any controversial area it is important to clarify that with multiple studies.

How well did the study address causation?

The cross-sectional study design is limited to making inferences about correlations rather than causation and does not determine cause and effect. For example, the article I picked reported results that identify the impact of SIgAD on patients with DM1 but not the cause and effect.

How are the study’s results are evaluated?

Evaluating results is important because provides information to other researchers so they can repeat the study and verify and confirm results.

I think these are all relevant questions that need to be asked when considering a study. Additionally, it is also important to consider the sample size of the study. How many participants were included in the study? Are the results reliable and generalizable? Additionally, what type of data was collected? Was it quantitative or qualitative data?

This is important to know because some studies may be conducted using only interviews or surveys, which can lead to issues such as bias or lack of reliability. Finally, it is also important to consider the context in which the study was conducted. What kind of environment or conditions were the participants in during the study? All of these questions can have an impact on the validity of the study.
