Organizations of Professional Nurses
The three most influential professional organizations for clinical nurse specialists are the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists (NACNS), the American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS), and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). NACNS is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing the value and expertise of clinical nurse specialists in healthcare.
Its primary objectives include promoting the full scope of practice for clinical nurse specialists, setting the standard for clinical nurse specialist education, and funding research evaluating the value and efficacy of clinical nurse specialist interventions and practice (NACNS, n.d. ). The American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS) is a professional organization dedicated to promoting specialty nursing certification and thereby improving patient outcomes and consumer protection.
The organization’s mission is to promote uniformity in nurse certification and to raise public awareness about the critical role of quality certification in healthcare. It regulates professional specialization and the attainment of specialty-related standards (ABSN, n.d.). The AACN is a professional organization that establishes educational standards for clinical nurse specialists. The body assists training institutions in developing and implementing training standards. Additionally, it has an effect on the practice of clinical nurse specialists in order to improve the quality of care provided to vulnerable populations (AACN, n.d.).

Of the three professional organizations mentioned above, I am most likely to join ABNS. The professional values of this organization are consistent with my nursing philosophy. The following values are prioritized: integrity, consumer protection, mutual respect, product and service quality, professionalism, and excellence.
Clinical nurse specialists have a responsibility, in my opinion, to ensure that the care they provide to those in need is safe and of high quality. They should also be sensitive to their clients’ various preferences and ensure that the care they provide promotes excellence. When assisting those in need, clinical nurse specialists must act professionally.
They must, for example, follow nursing practice standards while remaining within their scope of practice. As a result, I anticipate that joining this organization will broaden my understanding of nursing philosophy and pique my interest in issues affecting clinical nurse specialists’ practice.
Issues that are contentious or evolving and are likely to have an impact on my practice
A lack of role clarity is one of the emerging issues that will most likely have an impact on my practice as a clinical nurse specialist. The vast majority of people are unaware of the various roles and titles associated with our industry. The versatility of clinical nurse specialists in clinical settings contributes to a lack of clarity about their roles.
Direct patient care may be provided, as well as research, case management, education, and project management. As a result, it is critical to develop clear definitions of these professionals’ roles. The general public should be made aware of their responsibilities as well as the various ways they can use their services (Foster & Flanders, 2014).

The rapidly changing demographics of clinical nurse specialists’ patients are likely to have an impact on their practice. Statistics show that a significant portion of the American population will be elderly within the next 10 to 15 years. As a result, the risk of developing age-related comorbidities like diabetes, cancer, mental health issues, and degenerative disorders rises. As a result, clinical nurse specialists must conduct proactive analyses of anticipatory measures that would address the diverse needs of this population. They should prioritize health-system transformation in order to improve the quality of care provided to the elderly in the future.

Benchmark: Future Scope, Role and Professional Obligations Paper
Advanced registered nurses play a critical role in the current healthcare system in America. Advanced registered nurses enhance the access to care by addressing the shortage of physicians in the state. They also work with other healthcare providers and their patients to develop care interventions that utilize evidence-based data.
In doing the above, advanced registered nurses practice in accordance with their scope of practice, standards, and philosophy. Therefore, this essay examines the scope of my future role as a nurse informaticist, professional organizations that will affect my scope, and evolving issues that are likely to affect my practice.
Scope of my Future Role as an Advanced Registered Nurse
My future role as an advanced registered nurse is nurse informaticist. Nurse informaticists are nurses who have advanced knowledge and skills in the use of informatics in healthcare. The scope of practice of nurse informaticists is broad. Accordingly, nurse informaticists integrate information management as well as analytical sciences into nursing science.
The aim of integrating information from the above disciplines is to understand, define, and communicate the ways in which technology-related data can be used to inform nursing practice. The scope of nurse informatics also extends to the use of health technologies and their related data to make informed decisions in their organizations (Kleib & Nagle, 2018).
The ability to make informed decisions using informatics is attributable to the support that health organizations and providers acquire using information processes, information structures, and information technology.
The scope of nurse informaticists also entails undertaking the assessment of organizational needs. Nurse informaticists perform an analysis of the needs of their organizations and the appropriate health technologies that can be embraced to address them. For example, nurse informaticists identify organizational issues such as medication errors and propose the use of technologies such as barcode medication administration systems in solving them (Strudwick et al., 2019).
The scope of nurse informaticists also includes planning. Nurse informaticists participate in system development and planning where they develop strategies that are needed for the successful implementation of technologies in their organizations. They also implement, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the adopted systems in addressing the needs of their organizations (O’Connor & LaRue, 2021).
For example, they incorporate the inputs from other healthcare providers in ensuring the successful implementation, monitoring and evaluation of health information systems.
The scope of practice for nurse informaticists also includes the provision of their services with a consideration of ethics that influence their practice as well as competencies. Nurse informaticists promote safe, efficient and effective use of health information technologies in their organizations. They also ensure that competencies such as continued education, collaboration, leadership, and health policy are upheld in their practice (Kleib & Nagle, 2018).
The American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) certifies nurse informaticists. The respective states license the informaticists. The American Nurses Association (ANA) is also another professional body that influences the scope of practice for the nurse informaticists. ANA develops and defines the scope of practice, ethics, and competencies that nurse informaticists should uphold in their practice.
For this assignment, you will conduct research on the current scope of practice for your specialty and efforts that are being made to expand that scope and the role of the advanced nurse in positively influencing the health care system. Write a 1,250-1,500-word paper that includes the following:

Re: Topic 8 DQ 1
There are more than three professional nursing organizations that interest me. I am already a member or involved with the Society of Pediatric Nurses (SPN), and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) due to CCRN classes, testing and certification; and plan on attending the National Teaching Institute (NTI) and Critical Care exposition in May because of this association.
So, for the sake of this discussion, I am going to explore nursing organizations I hope to learn more about as my career progresses as an APRN. The American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC), the American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA), and the Society of Pediatric Cardiovascular Nurses (SPCN).
The ANCC is a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association (ANA) that is known for high quality credentialing and certification programs. The seek to recognized both individual and organizational excellence in terms of specialties, high quality patient care, and magnet recognition. They have multiple different programs and purpose, and requirements differ based on program.
What piqued my interest is that the ANCC offers one of the few certifications related to nursing informatics. They offer the Informatics Nursing Certification that requires a current RN license, and multiple clinical hours or having completed a graduate degree in informatics. The ANCC also offers many awards, scholarships and study aids to help promote education and the advancement of the nursing field.
The American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA) more specific to informatics. The ANIA seeks to “advance nursing informatics through education, research and practice in all roles and settings” (ANIA, 2021). Membership serves to be a good way to network, they offer continue education, give access to up to date research and the Journal of Informatics Nursing, have annual conferences, and have discussion forums for members. For membership requirements you just have to have a valid license and diploma in nursing, or being a current student of nursing, and you must pay the membership fee.
The Society of Pediatric Cardiovascular Nurses (SPCN) is the smallest of the mentioned professional organizations but is most specifically related to my current role as a pediatric cardiovascular ICU nurse. The SPCN currently has about 400 members and serves as a great resource for those within the specialty to communicate with one another and share information and resources (SPNC, n.d.).
The requirements are simply a membership fee. The SPCN serves a very small niche specialty, so it interests me to be able to connect with those within the same field.
In my current work, care is so specific to this population, and the pediatric population as a whole is understudied. I feel the continued education and research related to nursing practice is of upmost importance. With advancements in technology and continued advancements in research and education I feel this will continue to serve and benefit the patient population.
I feel that all three of the mentioned organizations do a great job in supporting the advancement, continued educations, and dissemination of resources and information. All of these professional organization contribute to the advancement of the nursing field as a whole, and goals and motivation for doing so are very much in line with my own career interests and worldviews.

Benchmark- Future Scope, Role, and Professional Obligations Paper
Nurses play significant roles in providing care for people with different illness and disabled individuals to ensure that they maintain or attain optimal health. However, in order to achieve this role, nurses must perform their duties within a specific scope of practice (David et al., 2015). Apparently, the scope of practice for these healthcare givers depends on the qualification, experience as well as membership to professional nursing organizations (Catallo, Spalding & Haghiri-Vijeh, 2014).
Specifically, the role of the professional bodies in supporting specialty care among nurses has been of utmost importance in positively influencing the health system which in turn optimizes quality outcomes to patients. The role of the professional nursing organization in developing the scope of practice is a concept worth exploring considering that they determine the roles of nurses in current and future practice.
As such, the present study delves into the analysis of the role of nursing informatics organization for the scope of practice of an advanced registered nurse. The discussion will explore three professional organizations that support the scope of nursing informatics practice followed by an evaluation of evolving issues surrounding the scope.
Scope of Future Role as an Advanced Registered Nurse
Nursing is one of the most dynamic and evolving professional fields with a host of limitless opportunities. The career prospects in nursing clearly define the scope of practice since a practitioner can specialize in various lines of care. According to Liu, Lee and Mills (2015), nursing informatics (NI) is one of the emerging scopes that aims to optimize care for patients. NI is a specialty of nursing practice that incorporates the application of computer software as a documentation tool to improve the quality of care for patients.
The scope is considered as a union that combines nursing practice with technology as well as data assimilation (McCormick & Saba, 2015). Nursing informatics comprises of countless tools, which include simple computers to more advanced electronic medical record systems that are diligently organized to deliver health information about patient care.
Moreover, nursing informatics is vital in the future role of advanced registered nursing practice. This is guided by the argument that the scope is one of the strongest as well as the most far-reaching and current practices of care. Furthermore, NI involves the implementation of evidence-based practice (EBP) in
